The new generation of leak pinpointing

A new type of correlators, the so-called "multi-correlators" or "correlating loggers" are becoming increasingly popular. They are a hybrid of a field correlator and a set of noise level loggers. Multi-correlators combine the independent functioning and high number of sensors of the logger-set with the ability of the correlator to locate leaks with pinpoint accuracy using acoustics. The result is a form of leak location which offers users new possibilities for locating even the most difficult leaks reasonably and efficiently.

With the Sebalog Corr, SebaKMT is setting new standards for multi-correlators. Features like the pinpoint location mode, the radio connection to the sensors and a GPS-based leak navigator which guides the user directly to the location of the leak, are just a few of the unique functions of the Sebalog Corr.

Fault sniffer locates cable faults

Peter Vayhinger drills a small hole into the footpath and inserts the "sniffer" of his handy measuring device into the ground. If the fault sniffer's display shows a high concentration of combustion gases, the search for cable faults has been successful.

Vayhinger is the head of the cable measurement team at the EnBW network operation in Stuttgart. For some months, he and his team have been using the SebaKMT fault sniffer, and he is impressed by the advantages it offers: "This device enables us to locate cable faults under certain conditions without us having to release the network." The "fault sniffer" is easy to operate and represents an additional variant for reliable cable fault locating. When faults are located with the cable test van, all customers connected to the defective operating resource must be isolated or disconnected. This is a time-consuming step. Thankfully, using the fault sniffers means that this is not necessary under certain circumstances in case of known cable faults in the low voltage network.

Experience has shown that 95 percent of errors are located in a sleeve, which can be "sniffed" specifically. To do so, rough pre-location is necessary, for example, by narrowing down the location of the defect using a voltage detector. "The hit rate with this less complex procedure is around 80, which translates into significant time and cost savings in locating cable errors as well as sparing our network customers from switch offs," notes team leader Peter Vayhinger.

Dr. Max Iann accompanied Federal President Christian Wulff on Japan trip

After Chancellor Angela Merkel, this time it was Federal President Christian Wulff who invited SebaKMT Managing Director Dr. Max Iann to accompany him on his 7-day trip to Japan.

Dr. Iann was part of a small but distinguished delegation of business leaders invited to express the sympathy of the German population and offer support to the careworn locals in the aftermath of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima.

“In the wake of earthquakes, tsunamis and the nuclear disaster, my goal was to assess the situation on the ground, strengthen existing business relationships and make new contacts in order to be in a position to contribute to the process of restoring normality to Japan,” explained Dr. Iann, noting that this type of support for the people of Japan is extremely important and the primary reason for his joining the travel group.

With the Chancellor in Vietnam

One of the stops on Chancellor Angela Merkel's recent Asia trip was Vietnam, one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia.

The Chancellor signed numerous agreements establishing a strategic partnership in economic relations and pledged assistance in the economic development and modernization of the Asian state.

The Chancellor was accompanied by a small delegation of German business leaders and held discussions with business leaders in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.

Dr. Max Iann, Managing Director of SebaKMT, was along for the trip.

Production hall dedication in Baunach

The new 3000 m² SebaKMT logistics and production facility in Baunach was dedicated yesterday.

After a champagne reception and welcome of the guests, employees and seminar participants, Managing Director Dr. Max Iann ceded the floor to District Administrator Günther Denzler and Catholic Priest and Theologian Dr. Thomas Schwartz.

After the dedication, Dr. Iann performed the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The executive board would like to thank everyone for attending the event, and especially the Musikverein Baunauch for the musical accompaniment.

On the road with the new leak detection van...

From now on the City of Hamm will be deploying a new, specially developed and equipped leak detection van from SebaKMT.

With the latest leak detection technology to find leaks faster than ever, the city expects to reduce water loss and prevent major financial damages.

Successful info day 2011 in Baunach...

SebaKMT's info day in the new seminar rooms in Baunach bei Bamberg was a smashing success matched only by the perfect weather.

Guests were treated to a full day of presentations on the latest products and developments from the worlds of electricity and water.

They were also able to look at and test all devices on the outdoor test tracks. And a rich assortment of delectable Frankish refreshments ensured that no one went hungry. A quiz and prize raffle rounded out the day.
