Unlike the pinpointing for common fault location, a prelocation for Partial discharges, could not be simply confirmed by a pinpointing technology.
The new PD LOC solves this problem.
And artifical PD Signal is injected at the estimated PD Position into the cable and compared with the PD Mapping location. Since both measurement operate with the same physical parameters, the pinpointing can be very accurate. Based on the fact, that most PD is in Joints, the primary issue of this pinpointing is to verify the correct joint before repair.
