Hint: Locating water leaks in ring circuits
02.02.06

It’s not hard to locate leaks in ring circuits made of metal pipes. If you know how!
This hint describes how you use the Correlux P1 to find out in exactly which part of the ring circuit the leak is to be found. Find out for yourself.
In metallic ring circuits the leak noise can be heard on all four sections. You measure with a correlator and, on every pipe section you get a clear correlation image. So, where is the leak? Section one, two, three or four?
It is important now, to take a look at the coherence. As you already know, the nearer you are to the leak, the higher the frequency spectrum. Take measurements on all sections of the ring circuit. The leak is in the section where you measure the highest frequencies.
It is very handy if you can see both the coherence and the correlation diagram at the same time and you don’t have to look through the menus. The next hint comes with the next newsletter.
Then you will learn more on the subject of ... Wait and see!
